Overview & Introduction
All persons aged 18 and older must be approved by the Office of Safe Environment (OSE) prior to ministering, working, or volunteering in the diocese. The approval process begins by completing the “Essential Three”: 1) complete a CORI or criminal background check, 2) view the Safe Environment Training Video, and 3) sign the Code of Conduct. I |

1. CORI Acknowledgment Form
All those who minister, work, or volunteer within the Diocese must complete a criminal background check referred to as a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information). The first step to complete the CORI is to fill out the a CORI Acknowledgement Form. There is a link to the form below. You will also need a clear copy of a valid, government photo identification and residency within the past ten years. Please be sure to read the instructions carefully, if anything is missing, the application will be held up until it is complete. The CORI Acknowledgment From and copy of your photo identification have to be given to Cheryl Cunha in the Collaborative Office. Cheryl can make a copy of your photo Identification in the office. Cheryl in turn sends this paper work to the diocese who process the CORI. The CORI background check must be conducted every every year for volunteers. A CORI is acceptable from any Parish in the diocese, but a CORI from outside of the diocese is not acceptable.

All volunteers must complete the Safe Environment Training video. The training is available online at https://fallriver.cmgconnect.org. The Video is provided by our Insurance Company, Catholic Mutual. The applicant must register online at CMG Connect under the Diocese of Fall River to begin the training. Once registered, the applicant will view three Safe Haven videos with a Q&A session. A respective Code of Conduct is added at the end of the videos for acknowledgement (see #3 below). Please note that these videos cover sensitive material. If anyone has any questions, please contact OSE. Training will be renewed every six (6) years or when directed by the OSE. A link to the Video Training on the CGI website is found below.
Spanish: On-line training is offered in Spanish. Please choose so when registering. Portuguese: A written transcript of the three Safe Haven videos in Portuguese is available through OSE. Hearing Impaired: A written transcript for the three Safe Haven Videos is available through OSE. Live Training: Please contact the OSE for this option.

3. Code of Conduct
All volunteers have to fill out a Safe Environment Code of Conduct. When taking the online training, the Codes must be read and acknowledged online. All who minister, work or volunteer within the Diocese are subject to Codes of Conduct at all times. The Codes of Conduct shall not expire. To download and print the Code of Conduct in English, Spanish, or Portuguese click on the appropriate link below. The Code can be brought to Cheryl Cunha in the Collaborative Office who will send it to the Office of Safe Environment.

4. Youth Code of Conduct
Minors: (under the age of eighteen) are not required to complete the Essential Three. However, a minor who is an employee or a volunteer within the Diocese and is in contact with minors or vulnerable adults must be assigned to an “Essential Three” compliant adult to fulfill their obligations as an employee or volunteer. A minor together with the parent/guardian and respective diocesan supervisor will sign a Diocesan Youth Code of Conduct each year. If the applicant has attained eighteen years of age, they will be required to complete the Essential Three.

Menores: (menores de dezoito anos) não precisam ser processados pelo CORI neste momento. No entanto, um menor que é funcionário ou voluntário da Diocese e está em contacto com menores ou adultos vulneráveis deve ser atribuído a um adulto em conformidade com os “Três Essenciais” para cumprir suas obrigações como funcionário ou voluntário. Um menor junto com o pai / responsável e o respectivo supervisor diocesano assinarão um Código Diocesano da Juventude de conduta a cada ano. Se o requerente tiver atingido dezoito anos de idade, ele deverá preencher o Três essenciais Cada estabelecimento diocesano, ou seja, paróquia, escola ou programa, tem um representante que pode ajudar na verificação processo do Formulário de Reconhecimento CORI.
