The Sacrament of Confirmation

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation, whose unity must be safeguarded.

It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285

Youth Confirmation at St. Anthony, St. Jude and St Mary:  The Grade 9 Confirmation program class meets every Sunday at 5:30 PM in the St Jude Church Hall.  See schedule for list of dates.  All classes will end with attendance at the 7:00 PM Mass.

Adult Confirmation The Education Office of the Diocese of Fall River has classes for adults who need to receive just the sacrament of Confirmation. If an adult needs to receive First Communion and Confirmation, they are not eligible for this program but instead should contact Fr. Babiczuk or Joanne Mercier about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This past year classes were held both in the Fall and in the Spring. The sacrament itself was celebrated in the Cathedral by the Bishop in the Fall and in the Spring for those who had gone through the Adult Education classes. Classes are held both online and onsite at one of the parishes and involves six sessions. Information about these classes including a schedule and registration form can be found on the Faith Formation page for the Diocese of Fall River.  Information about classes also is found in the Parish bulletin a few months before classes begin.
