Meal Ministry
An Overview of Meal Ministry: Our  collaborative serves a hot meal to the needy of Taunton every Saturday from 11:30am to 12:30pm. We are currently serving 50 people.  At the moment, we serve soup and a hot meal along with a brown bag that has a variety of items in it. The brown bag always has water and dessert from us, but also a variety of items from Pennies from Heaven. They usually sends us fruit and chips, but a variety of other items. . When the weather gets warmer we will switch from soup to sandwiches.

We started this ministry in April of last year.

Our meal ministry is take-out only with the pandemic, and we do not know when we will serve an eat-in meal.  We serve from the loading-dock at the St. Anthony Parish Center.

The meals are organized in the Hall.

We invite Families to Help? One of the reasons we started the meal ministry was to provide in-house service projects for our faith formation program and for families.  In addition to going to Mass as a family, helping with the Meal Ministry is another way for parents to exercise their vocation as the primary educators in the faith.

Families can help make-up the brown bags, make sandwiches (in the summer months), put the soup and hot food into the take-out containers (depending upon the age of the children), and help to hand-out the meal from the loading dock. Our regulars are there to show families what they can do

Children must be accompanied by at least one parent.

We can use no more than six family volunteers at a time.

Adults must complete the three steps of the diocesan Safe Environment program before helping. This is easy to do. Two of the steps can be done on-line. We have information on how to complete the three steps of Safe Environment on the collaborative web site under "Ministries". Questions about Safe Environment should be directed to Cheryl Cunha in the collaborative Office. Her direct number is 508-824-3330.

How  can sign-up to help? We have created a sign-up on Sign-up Genius. Click here to sign-up.

If you have any questions call Jane Santos in the Faith Formation Office (508-824-3333).

When you arrive on the day that day to help, please look for Judy Corliss, Mike Cody, or Fr. Fred. One of them will always be there.
