Faith Formation

Taunton Catholic North Faith Formation.
One of the goals of the collaborative Pastoral Plan was to develop a single Faith Formation program for Taunton Catholic North. Despite the pandemic, this was done in the Fall of 2020. We no longer have a faith formation program for each individual parish, but a single program for Taunton Catholic North.

Classes are held both at St. Anthony Parish Center and at St. Jude depending upon the grade. Grades 1-5 are based at St. Anthony and grades 6-9 at St. Jude.

Faith Formation Office
The main Faith Formation Office is located at St. Anthony Parish Center. Jane Santos has office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to noon.

The phone number for the Faith Formation Office is 508-824-4545.

The email address for the office is FF@cntaunton.org.

Faith Formation for 2021-2022: A Brief Overview

Grades 1 & 2 will have Faith Formation on Sunday morning at St. Anthony following the 9am Family Mass. Classes end at 11am. This year there will be a integration between grades 1 & 2 First Communion and the Mass. We are planning to develop Liturgy of the Word for children in grades 1 & 2. We also a, re planning to turn the 9am Mass into a family Mass. Grades 1 & 2 families will be responsible for participating in the preparation of the Mass on a monthly basis. Thus, grade 1 & 2 families are asked to attend this mass. The first day of class is Sunday September 26. We will have a parent's meeting before the start of class, but the date has not yet been determined.

Grades 3-5 will have class on Saturday morning at St. Anthony from 9am to 10:30am. Families with children in these grades are also required to attend mass, but a Mass of your choice. The first day of class is Saturday, September 25. We will have a parent's meeting before the start of class but the date has not yet been determined.

Grades 6 will have class at St. Anthony Parish Center on Sundays following the 9am Mass. Class will begin at 10am and end at 11am. We will use a program by Life Teen called Edge in grades 6-8. Grade 6 will use the same program as grades 7 & 8, but at a different time. Originally, grade 6 was going to be with grade 7 & 8, but this has changed to lessen the number of students together at the same time. The first day of class is Sunday September 26. On that day we will have a parent/student meeting.

Grades 7 & 8 (Edge) will have class at St. Jude Hall & Church starting at 5:30pm. Class will be followed by the 7pm Mass. We will use a program by Life Teen called Edge in grades 7-8. This year these grades will study commandments and Church. There will be an integration between the class and the Mass. The 7pm Mass will become a Youth Mass. Thus, we are asking the middle school students to attend this Mass if possible, but another Mass can be attended on a case by case basis. The first day of class is Sunday September 26. We will have a parent meeting on that day. To lessen the number of parents and students in the Hall, we will begin with 8th grade parents and students in the Church, and 7th grade parents and students in the Hall.

Grade 9 (Purpose) will also have class on Sunday night starting at 5:30pm in the St. Jude Religious Education building. As we have over the past few years, we will use Purpose by Life Teen for Confirmation Preparation. Class will be followed by attending the 7pm Mass. As in the other grades there will be a integration between the class and the Mass. The 7pm Mass will become a Youth Mass. A different grade will sponsor the Mass each week that we have class. Thus, we are asking Confirmation Candidates to attend this Mass if possible, but another Mass can be attended on a case by case basis. The first day of class is Sunday September 26. There will be a parent meeting on Sunday October 3 at 5:30 pm at St. Anthony Parish Center. We are meeting there because the Hall at St. Jude will not be available because it is being used by grades 7 & 8.
