RECEIVING ASHES IN THE PANDEMIC: Ash Wednesday is February 17. The Vatican has sent out directives on how ashes are to be received during the pandemic. The formula that is normally said while receiving ashes will be said only once over the entire congregation, and the ashes will be sprinkled on top our head. If someone does not want to have ashes sprinkled on their head, we will have small packets of ashes available at the door as an alternative to having them sprinkled on your head. The Mass Schedule is as follows:
FASTING & ABSTINENCE DURING LENT: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting and abstinence. Those who are 14 years of age and older are obliged to observe the laws of abstinence in which one is to abstain from meat on these Ash Wednesday and all Fridays in Lent. All adults 18 and older up to the beginning of their 60" year are also bound by the laws of fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The laws of fasting are: We are limited to a single full meal (meatless) and 2 other meals sufficient to maintain strength may be taken according to one's needs, but these 2 meals together should not equal a single meal.
